Scottish mezzo-soprano Heather Ireson has recently finished studying at the Royal Northern College of Music, gaining a Master’s of Music in Solo Performance (Distinction). Previously, Heather studied Music at Aberdeen University and graduated with a first class BMus (Hons) degree. Heather now lives in London and enjoys absorbing the musical atmosphere and opportunities the capital offers. She works as a freelance mezzo-soprano and private singing, piano and theory teacher.
On the concert platform, Heather regularly travels throughout Britain to perform with choral societies, orchestras and giving solo recitals. Her opera roles include; Sorceress (Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas), Mrs Herring (RNCM’s production of Britten’s Albert Herring) and the title role in RNCM’s Handel’s Xerxes. Operatic excerpts at the RNCM include Ascanio (Mozart’s Ascanio in Alba), Nerone (Monteverdi’s L'incoronazione di poppea) and Nerone (Handel’s Agrippina). Heather thoroughly enjoys musical theatre and jazz repertories and regularly performs these styles.
